Hankel norm approximation and control systems

Connections are established between problems of Hankel norm approximation, of finding approximating subspaces in Hilbert space H/sub 2/, and stability and instability of control systems. This study was motivated by results that interpreted robustness properties of control systems from the point of view of the geometry between the graph spaces of the plant and the controller.<
