A model for magnetic recording channels with signal dependent noise

This paper presents a model that includes both signal dependent and signal independent noises. A method for extracting statistics of the coefficients of the noise expansion from measured covariances is described. The paper also suggests how to take advantage of the signal dependence of the noise in the detection process.<
