Learning to increase effective troubleshooting with an interactive expert system

A general overview is presented of an expert system design to replace advice from an instructor in digital logic circuit design at the level of small-scale-integrated components in a protoboard design. The expert system is available at all times to offer advice and answer students' questions on the topic. The interactive prototype system that has been implemented at the University of Connecticut is described. This system is intended to work at the troubleshooting stage to help a student identify the errors in the circuit and provide an environment in which the student can develop expertise in troubleshooting faulty circuits.<
