A comparison of several system identification methods with application to power systems

This paper presents a survey of recent advances in system transfer function identification with applications to power systems. Three different identification algorithms were analyzed; the Prony method, a direct ARMA method, and a State Space method. Although all of these methods use input and output data, there are features that make the methods distinctly different and difficult to compare directly; the merits of each are discussed. Simulation examples are given comparing the performance of the methods.<
