Toward a competence theory of diagnosis

A competence theory of diagnosis works by decomposing diagnosis into sets of subtasks, or problem-solving methods. These methods are recursively decomposed until primitive inferences are found. Tasks and methods are then organized in a task-method decomposition structure.<
