Measuring the impact of investments in information technologies on business performance

The paper analyzes the impact of information technology on business performance. The research is conducted by investigating the correlation between the aggregated annual expense in some kinds of information technologies and a proxy measure of firm performance. In the literature, this research stream is not particularly active, especially due to the failure of traditional business performance indicators; nevertheless, the positive results of a few research works and the generally high interest of firms, especially within the current crisis context, prodded the study. The paper discusses the role of information technology in the organizations as a basis for the experience on the collected business data. Results of experimentation are presented and further research directions are outlined.<
