The model for gravity-capillary waves modulation in IW current field and they application to radiophysical measurements

The model presented is an attempt to explain the large contrast in the short gravity-capillary wavelengths region caused by internal wave currents. The proposed model is based on the wave action balance equation. With the right-hand source expression, which is accordance with the Donelan and Pierson approximations for wave energy input dissipation of short gravity capillary waves model also introduces an additional assumption that wind speed is modulated by surface currents. Very large X, Ka, Ku contrasts caused by internal waves were observed during field experiments JOWIP, SARSEX and SCATMOD. Large contrasts at short wavelengths (up to 15 dB) have also been observed during shipborne measurements conducted by TKI (Space Research Institute, Russia). These measurements were made using microwave scatterometers and radiometers in the range from 0.8 to 18.0 cm. The large contrasts at short gravity-capillary waves is difficult, to explain in the frame of models used so far.<>
