An enhanced ghost cancellation reference signal

It is proposed to enhance the ghost cancelling reference (GCR) signal so that it can provide additional information about the channel characteristics. The proposed enhancement consists of the addition of a very short modulated or unmodulated staircase signal to detect the nonlinear behaviour in the transmission channel. Tests have shown that this modification does not affect the operation of ghost cancelling equipment.<
