Using the parallel second-order predictor-corrector algorithm for dynamic real-time simulation of synchronous generator

This paper presents a second-order parallel predictor-corrector algorithm which is used to solve ordinary differential equations on parallel processor transputer networks. It has been realized to simulate the machine-network transient real-time performance on a single generator to infinite bus power system. Some features of the algorithm such as the recurrence formula, the application domain and the numerical stabilization, etc., are discussed. Using this algorithm for the dynamic simulation of a single generator to infinite bus power system in symmetrical fault situations, the real-time stabilization results can be obtained satisfactorily on a four-transputer parallel network with a calculating interval <2.5 ms. The calculation time is about 1/3 of that of a single processor. This parallel algorithm is excellent for engineering applications. If large transputer networks are used, the dynamic real-time simulation of multigenerator power systems may be realized.<
