Optimisation of the heat treatment for the nanocrystalline Fe-Cu-Nb-Si-B alloys

A correlation was found between the saturation of silicon content of /spl alpha/-Fe nanocrystals and the improvement of soft magnetic properties (initial permeability, /spl musub 1/ and power loss, P) as a function of annealing time at about 550/spl deg/C annealing temperature. The partially crystallised FINEMET has a /spl musub 1/ comparable to and a P characteristic much better than those of the Co-based zero-magnetostrictive VAC-6025F amorphous alloy.<
