Magnetic properties and surface resistance of Rb-doped YBaCuO ceramic

The influence of Rb/sub 2/CO/sub 3/ additive on the properties of YBCO was investigated. The impurity was added to the usual stoichiometry of Y/sub 1/Ba/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub y/ to produce an initial batch with general formula Y/sub 1/Ba/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/(Rb)/sub x/O/sub y/ where x=0 to 0.60. Only tracer of (2.21/spl times/10/sup -2/ wt.%) Rb were found in all samples after final baking. Adding Rb shifted the temperature T/sub on/ of the "magnetic transition" towards lower temperatures without affecting the electrical HTSC characteristics and improved the grain size homogeneity.<
