The Meek theory and its fundamental limitations

The streamer of the spark discharge was proposed in 1940 by J.M. Meek for positive streamers. On the basis of detailed theoretical studies, the author has found that Meek's theory suffers from serious weaknesses in its basic concepts. It is claimed that the criterion for the onset of a streamer proposed by Meek is not a reliable criterion for the transition.<
