Finite element analysis of power electronic circuits containing nonlinear magnetic components

A new finite element technique that allows nonlinear time domain analysis of power electronic circuits containing magnetic components is presented. The new technique is shown to compute the same voltage waveform in a nonlinear RLC circuit as previously published circuit techniques. The new technique is demonstrated for a circuit containing an inductor with a nonlinear B-H curve, finite conductivity and a given geometry including air gaps.<
