A vector concept methodology for the appraisal of manufacture technology

It is pointed out that the most deterministic factor in selecting the technological processes and the organization scheme for a specific manufacturing task is the particularity of the technological structure of the production object. Nevertheless, there is still a broad variety of options. The resolution of this latter issue depends upon diverse abstract factors common to different products, e.g., the scale of production, the size or weight of the finished product, the multiplicity of the composing elements, the stringency of processes called for, and the precision requirement. The author attempts to investigate the quantitative measure of the overall complexity of the task as computed from these factors, and the quantitative dissimilarity one kind of manufacturing as opposed to another. A concept methodology is proposed to integrate these abstract aspects into an integral framework. By this means different kinds of manufacturing tasks could, to some extent, be compared and discriminated with good confidence.<
