The preliminary design of a stability augmentation system for a remotely piloted vehicle in hover

A stability augmentation system (SAS) to assist in the control of a remotely piloted aircraft in hover is described. The SAS includes a decoupler designed to reduce nonintuitive dynamic effects such as gyroscopic propeller moment through feedforward cancellation. Simulation results indicate that the controller is effective even with inaccuracies in estimates of the canceled moments.<
