Calculated noise performance of a form of frequency hopping with applications to low altitude satellite communication systems

The author has recently proposed use of a form of frequency hopping (FH) called frequency hop sequence (FHS) for a low-altitude satellite communication system. The problem of interest is the noise performance of FHS in the presence of interference in the form of multipath and jamming. The effect of synchronization error is also considered. In FHS, a group of bits is transmitted simultaneously and these groups or symbols are distinguished during transmission by assigning a unique time sequence of carrier frequency to each symbol. In the case of interference, some nonsignal subsystems have an interference signal in addition to the noise input to the system. Two cases of interference are considered: interference in all nonsignal subsystems and interference in only one nonsignal subsystem.<
