A multimedia cognitive-based system model

A formal model of a multimedia (MM) information retrieval system is introduced. A retrieval methodology is proposed which addresses some basic issues such as search and query-based access and integration of multimedia and knowledge-based systems. It is shown that the integration of MM and a knowledge-based system increases the retrieval possibilities of the system. The cognitive network represents an intelligent interface between the users and MM data. By introducing the query and index vector concepts for MM data, an efficient query-based mechanism is provided for diverse information retrieval.<>
