Optimum design of longitudinal field variable reluctance motors-application to a high performance actuator

A new structure is defined for variable reluctance motors; it is based on the concept of longitudinal or tangential field. A mathematical model is given, and is used to define the optimum pattern. A high performance linear actuator has been built on these principles; predicted values have been checked against experimental data.<
