An integrodifferential finite element-Green's function method for the solution of unbounded eddy current problems

A modified hybrid integrodifferential finite-element-Green's function method for the solution of 2-D unbounded eddy current problems is presented. Compared with existing unbounded eddy current approaches, this method is efficient and capable of solving inhomogeneous and exterior source problems. It is also useful for the study of eddy current shielding in electroheat applications. The method is used for the calculation of two eddy current problems. The first problem is an infinitely long circular cylindrical conductor with an impressed current. The second problem is the same conductor excited by an infinitely long current filament. The agreement of the calculated results with analytic solutions validates the method.<
