Analysis and forecast issue: technology 1994

No matter what the field, the theme underlying much technical development last year and this is almost an oxymoron: an intertwining of competitiveness and compatibility. While companies want their high-tech products to edge out the competition, they are realistic enough to realize that this is the age of multivendor systems.
