EHD motion and its influences on conduction of liquids under transient unipolar injection

The electrohydrodynamic (EHD) motion of an insulating liquid subjected to a transient unipolar injection has been investigated. Based on the dynamics of the space-charge/liquid interface in front of an injecting electrode, the EHD mobility is formulated. The theoretical values calculated show a good agreement with the experimental data available. The proposed EHD model leads to the expressions not only for the time delay, but also for the EHD mobility. It appears that the EHD motion is governed by the dynamics of the interface, and in turn dominates the transient conduction.<
