Combustion properties of contaminated dielectric fluids as determined in the cone calorimeter

The authors present findings from experiments performed in the cone calorimeter, a small-scale combustion test apparatus. The cone calorimeter uses a variable-power radiant heater to simulate various large-scale fire scenarios. Combustion property measurements included heat release rate, smoke evolution, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide. These properties, along with other key physical and dielectric properties, are reported for various reasonable levels of cross-contamination of the more popular dielectric fluids.<
