How to obtain maximum practical performance from state of the art delta-sigma analog to digital converters

Obtaining maximum performance from a state of the art delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter (ADC) requires a basic understanding of noise sources and of the delta-sigma architecture. A brief review of delta-sigma operation, common noise sources, and modes of noise propagation is provided. This is followed by a discussion of techniques used in a manufacturing test and applications which have proved to reduce noise, including direct coupling, inductive coupling, and capacitive coupling. Specific techniques for performance improvement are outlined.<
