A scheme for data collection from unattended instruments by a personal computer

The collection of field data relating to the growth of plants, using unattended instruments over long periods of time, is discussed, and the hardware and software are described. A single channel of FM telemetry is employed to facilitate data collection by a personal computer located at some distance. A low-power microcontroller with provision for low power is used. Resident software periodically collects and stores transducer data. The communication port of the PC is used by suitable device drivers.<
