A GEO to GEO high data rate optical crosslink approach

The authors address the design of a GEO (geosynchronous Earth orbit) to GEO optical crosslink which is state-of-the-art, lightweight and low power, and which occupies little space on the satellite. The design reflects mature technologies and, as a consequence, development risk is minimized. The major components which comprise the system are discussed. The weight, power, and size for this conceptual terminal are included as are the link analyses based on the major components identified.<
