Multiplexing on the downlink of a TDMA-based radio system

The author addresses signal multiplexing on the downlink of a TDMA-based radio system. This issue was addressed through the comparison of two candidate techniques, TDM and TDMA. The multiplexing method is important to call setup and link transfer times, co-channel interference, and implementation complexity. The effects differ from an outdoor, local exchange application, to an indoor private application. The study shows that the outdoor, local exchange application is best served by a TDM downlink, while certain indoor business applications may best be served by a TDMA downlink.<
