Acoustic knife for slendering of LiNbO/sub 3/ transducers of GHz range

A device for slendering LiNbO/sub 3/ transducers that operate in the GHz range is described. The device achieves transducer slendering of up to 1-2 mu m. A plate of LiNbO/sub 3/ is bonded to a block by indium and then burnished to a thickness of 20-30 mu m. It is then scraped by the edge stimulated to the flexural vibrations. The scraping time is about 10-30 min.<>
