A systematic method in designing line filters for switching regulators

A systematic method of designing line filters for switching regulators is presented. A line filter is represented by G-parameters which explicitly express its two functions: blocking the switching current from feeding back to the powerline and isolating the line voltage transients. In addition, it can be used to facilitate the evaluation of overall system performance. Based on the regulator's performance requirements, a proper line filter can be derived without trial and error. It minimizes the degradation of a regulator's performance and its weight and size as well. For illustration purposes, a 6.25 kW current-fed push-pull power converter under peak current programmed control/sup -/ associated with a line filter is investigated.<
