MV/LV substations designed to look good

In the towns and villages supplied with electrical energy by the Compagnie vaudoise d'electricite (CVE), where requirements are continually increasing, customers appear less and less willing to allocate ground for siting the MV/LV substations necessary for public distribution of electricity. At the same time-as in all the worlds' industrialized countries-an increasing opposition to the external signs of industry can be felt among the population. Here, the author describes how for some time, to counter these trends, CVE has been developing a line of compactly dimensioned MV/LV substations, designed to be embedded in earth banks and therefore be unobtrusive while remaining inexpensive.<
