Power in the all fiber network

The author discusses some recent investigations at Bellcore's Applied Research Area (USA) which have centered on power supply issues which require serious attention if broadband service (600 Mb/s) is to become ubiquitous. He points out some of the issues involved and outlines the efforts Bellcore is taking to solve them.<
