High transition temperature superconducting infrared detector

A Y/sub 2/Ba/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub x/ (x=6.9) bulk ceramic superconductor infrared detector operated at 77 K is discussed. The material is prepared by hot-pressing YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub x/ powder that was made by solid-state reaction of Ba(NO/sub 3/)/sub 2/, Y/sub 2/O/sub 3/ and CuO. The response of the detector to the blackbody radiation as a function of bias current is given for two different detector geometries.<
