MADRAS: a software for the improvement of service restoration of overhead lines

To improve client supply, distribution centres draw up service restoration plans for each overhead medium voltage (MV) line that are used in the event of single permanent faults. The service restoration plan stipulates a series of operations that are carried out on the MV arborescent loop network in order to locate the faulty part of the network with minimum undistributed energy and minimum outages for priority clients. Drawing up an optimum service restoration plan for overhead networks that takes all imposed criteria into account is a complicated process, particularly in zones with long feeders. The MADRAS computerized tool has been developed to simplify the utilities, tasks. MADRAS is used to: automatically draw up the optimal service restoration plan for an MV feeder, and file the plan so that it remains readily available and useable, either directly by the MV network operators, or as associated data for the running of the Central Operating Station.<
