Mobility of excess electrons in mixtures of neopentane and tetramethylsilane

The authors report on the change of electron mobility in mixtures of neopentane ( mu /sub el/=70 cm/sup 2/ V/sup -1/ s/sup -1/) and tetramethylsilane ( mu /sub el/=95 cm/sup 2/ V/sup -1/ s/sup -1/) at room temperature. Different theoretical models are discussed and new measurements of the mobility of excess electrons in mixtures of liquid neopentane and tetramethylsilane at (22+or-2) degrees C as a function of composition are presented. The dependence of the electron mobility on the composition of the mixture is shown. In the pure solvents, mu /sub el/(NP)=66.5 cm/sup 2/ V/sup -1/ s/sup -1/ and mu /sub el/(TMSi)=99 cm/sup 2/ V/sup -1/ were measured. The mean error of the experimental mean values is approximately +or-5%.<>
