An overview of recent field tests demonstrating the use of CDMA for personal communications networks

Provides an overview of recent field test results that have been obtained on the performance of a CDMA personal communications network (PCN) designed to share common spectrum with narrowband microwave signals in the 1850-1990 MHz region. That is, the PCN is designed to overlay a frequency band which is currently occupied by signals from microwave users such as utility companies and various state and local agencies. These field tests have included path loss measurements, voice quality tests, and bit error rate measurements. They were taken with a 24 Mchip/sec direct sequence waveform occupying a 48 MHz bandwidth. The underlying information was transmitted via 32 kbit/sec adaptive delta modulation, thus yielding a processing gain of 750.<
