Mixed sintering of PbZrO/sub 3/ rich PZT based ceramics and their pyroelectric properties

The phase transition between two ferroelectric phases F/sub R/(LH) and F/sub R/(HT) gives high pyroelectric coefficient but only in a very narrow temperature range. The study was carried out in order to extend the phase transition temperature of composite ceramics through a mixed sintering method. Two kinds of starting materials with Zr/Ti ratios of 90/10 and 94/6, respectively, were prepared to broaden the phase transition temperature. Two phase transition temperatures for F/sub R/(LH) to F/sub R/(HT), which give double peaks in the temperature dependence of the pyroelectric coefficient were observed. A mixed sintered PbZrO/sub 3/-PbTiO/sub 3/-Pb(Zn/sub 1/3/Nb/sub 2/3/)O/sub 3/ (PZT-PZN) ternary system ceramic with Pb/sub 5/Ge/sub 3/O/sub 11/ (PGO) as a liquid phase was also studied, and the pyroelectric properties were investigated.<
