2D ultrasonic field characterization technique of piezoelectric materials

A 2-D ultrasonic field characterization technique was applied to the visualization of complex vibrations in (1-3) lead zirconate-titanate (PZT)-polymer piezoelectric composite surfaces. Broadband driving signals were used during the experiments to minimize the characteristic continuous wave interferences that could mask the imaging transducer behavior and also to facilitate the visualization of possible secondary modes, mainly in the time domain. The complex vibration of this type of radiating surfaces, and some anomalies, with respect to the desired behavior, were analyzed through their effects in the very near zones.<
