Morphological and magnetic properties of Ru, Os and Ir-substituted Fe/sub 4/N

Investigation of particulate materials for magnetic recording based on Fe/sub 4/N substituted with Ru, Os, and Ir has allowed the role played by the substituent in the particle growth process of these particles to be addressed. The site of substitution within the nitride lattice is determined using Mossbauer resonance spectroscopy of /sup 57/Fe. It has also been shown that such substitutions lead to very fine particles with superparamagnetic behavior.<
