Attenuation and depolarization due to rain scatter at millimeter wave frequencies

In order to predict the effects of rain scatter on a propagating electromagnetic wave, the scattering parameters of individual raindrops must be determined. One technique for doing this is the extended boundary condition method (EBCM) or T-matrix method. The fundamental EBCM equations for computing the scattering amplitudes of axisymmetric raindrops are presented and the derivation of the equations explained. In addition, computer scattering data is presented for 30 GHz and 45 GHz frequencies.<
