Implementation experience with supermicrocomputer technology (power system applications)

After extensive hardware and software evaluations, four supermicrocomputer-based networks were designed and established at PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric) for use in transmission planning, system protection, power system operational management, and software development. The authors reports on PG&E's supermicrocomputer technology justification, its applications, and implementation experience. Comparisons of mainframe computers and supermicrocomputers were made.<
