An advanced air interface for integrated digital mobile communications systems

An advanced air interface for mobile communications systems is proposed to enhance radio spectrum utilization and to offer integrated services. The proposed interface has a three-layer signaling structure that is optimized from the network and mobile point of view. A novel cell selection logic based on fuzzy logic and a new channel assignment strategy are also proposed to improve radio transmission features. These techniques can be directly applied to future mobile radio systems, including personal telecommunication systems.<
