Electrical conduction of multi-layer ceramic capacitor

The electrical conduction mechanism of a multilayer ceramic capacitor has been investigated at high temperature. The leakage current was found to increase with the time. Two peaks appeared on the current-time curves. It was considered that the peaks originated from the accumulated space charge. The carrier mobility of the electrical conduction was calculated to be 10/sup -11/ to 10/sup -12/ cm/sup 2//Vs. The logarithm of the carrier mobility was inversely proportional to the temperature. The logarithm of the conductivity was inversely proportional to the temperature, and the activation energy for the electrical conduction was found to be 1.8 eV. From the carrier mobility and the activation energy for the electrical conduction, the ionic conduction was found to be dominant in the multilayer ceramic capacitor at high temperature.<
