A new control strategy for three-phase CVCF inverters in aerospace application

This paper proposed a new closed-loop control strategy for three-phase constant-voltage constant-frequency (CVCF) inverters used for high speed motor. The purpose is to simplify the system configuration by using only voltage sensors and keep good performances at the same time, when the inverter is applied to medium frequency induction motors by direct starting. In this paper, a new control strategy is proposed, in which the d-axis of the synchronous frame is aligned with the output voltage vector and the dq components of the output voltage are controlled respectively. The operating principle of this method is analyzed by using vector diagram. This new control strategy is very simple in configuration with only two voltage sensors and appropriate for CVCF inverters in aerospace application, which requires high-quality output voltage. Simulations and experiments on a DSP controlled inverter system prove good steady-state and dynamic performances of the proposed method.
