Analysis of Acousto-Electromagnetic Scattering from a Dielectric Cylinder using the Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method

Analytical solutions for the Doppler component have been obtained for infinite, circular dielectric and metallic cylinders. However, in order for the approach to be of practical significance, the capability to analyze arbitrary scatterers needs to be developed. Previously, the portion of the Doppler component arising from boundary perturbation has been modelled using sheet boundary conditions (SBC) and the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method in two dimensions. To complete the two-dimensional model, the portion of the Doppler component due to dielectric modulation is now presented. The results are compared with the analytical solutions for circular cylinders
