Wind energy and power system inertia

Wind is an abundant, clean, robust, and compelling resource for generating electricity. It has also become the fastest growing type of renewable generation in the United States. However, the low inertia of a wind-dominant power system could be troublesome in power system operation. This paper presents reasons that make wind energy an important energy source in electricity markets. It also discusses suitable markets for wind energy, means of improving the wind energy combined with flywheel, and financial aspects of pricing the reliability of wind farms
