Low firing Z5U relaxor multilayer ceramic capacitor

A low firing Z5U multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLC) based on the low-firing dielectrics of Pb(Fe/sub 2/3/W/sub 1/3/)/sub 0.41/ (Fe/sub 1/2/Nb/sub 1/2/)/sub 0.49/ Ti/sub 0.1/O/sub 3/-Bi/sub 2/O/sub 3//Li/sub 2/O was fabricated. The prepared Z5U MLC can be sintered at temperature as low as 830 degrees C for 2 h. Such a low firing temperature makes it possible to use a high silver content or 100% silver conductors as the internal electrode. Consequently, capacitor cost becomes lower. Dielectric properties of fabricated MLC are fairly stable against the drift of sintering temperature. Fabricated 0.1- mu F 1206 size 50-V Z5U MLC features a high volumetric efficiency (25 mu F/cm/sup 3/), low-loss tangent (<0.5%), high insulation resistance (>10/sup 4/ M Omega ), low aging rate (<1.0%/decade), and higher working voltage.<
