Effect of Ferritic Density and Zinc on Magnetic Properties of Cobalt Ferrite Nanocomposites

Cobalt ferrite nanocomposite was investigated for RF applications. Magnetic nanocomposites were fabricated at different ferritic densities. Cobalt zinc ferrite nanocomposite was also prepared to study the effect of zinc. The size of magnetic nanoparticle was measured by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), while its crystalline structure was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Toroidal sample was made by compact method. The density of ferrite was controlled by compact pressure and filler loading. The effect of ferritic density and zinc on magnetic properties was analyzed by measuring complex permeability at frequencies up to 1 GHz, using an Agilent Impedance Analyzer, model E4991A. Experimental result showed that the permeability remained almost unchanged at a frequency range from 10 MHz to 1 GHz, while the magnetic loss was less than 0.2. The incorporation of zinc enhanced the magnetic property of cobalt ferrite nanocomposite significantly.
