UPS SMES using dry type superconducting coil designed to protect from momentary voltage drop

To protect a facility from momentary voltage drop, we are studying a short time SMES system. For this SMES, a helium free superconducting pulse coil using conduction cooling is developed. Also short time power converters and a high-speed voltage drop detector for a 1 MJ class SMES are designed.
