Performance evaluation of a fault-tolerant switch for next generation computer networks

In this paper, the architecture of a parallel- plane deflection-routed circular banyan (PDCB) network based switching fabric is presented. The PDCB switch has a cyclic, regular, self-routing, simple architecture and fairly good performance. Its performance is improved due to reduction in blocking by two-dimensional path-multiplicity of the proposed architecture. A simple analytical model based on Markov chain has been used to evaluate the performance of the switch under uniform traffic condition.
