Signal processing for the arts: reaching out to new audiences

This paper describes the authors' experiences with developing a signal processing course specifically designed for students with a background in the arts. These students are composed of sophisticated media creators without a math background but are interested in developing a signal processing understanding to aid their creativity. The course was developed at the new Arts Media and Engineering (AME) program at Arizona State University.
