UHF field-strength measurements for determination of the influence of buildings and vegetation in the land mobile radio service

In the UHF land mobile radio service the received field strength is impaired by buildings and vegetation. The well-known empirical formulas of Hata generally used for field-strength estimates are compared with measurements performed in the Rhine-Main area in the Federal Republic of Germany. The various influences of buildings and vegetation at 450 MHz and 900 MHz and their statistical distribution are investigated.
